Happy Tax Day! And Some Monogramming!

Today, JustRite Stampers is known for a lot more than monogram images. In the beginning, they mostly created alphabet designs and borders to do monogram stamping. This card was created using one of those alphabets to make a custom notecard. You can make a great little gift for someone by making them a set of custom notecards. Some people like to make multiples of the same design, others like to make different individual designs. In this card, a Cuttlebug embossing folder was used to add some dimension and a designer ribbon from American Crafts adds some additional colors to the card.

Tilda Sitting on a Circle...

I love the little Tilda images from Magnolia. Many of the designs show her in a sitting position. It is sometimes hard to find a good stamp image to have her sit on. However, you can cheat a bit and have her sit on a break in the card design. In this case, I cut out a circle frame with Spellbinders dies and have little Tilda sitting on the edge of the circle. It is an easy way to make the image look natural and you can obviously make the circle out of any color or design. You can also embellish the circles as much as much as you like. Little adhesive pearls or rhinestones can dress it up. On this card, I created some layered paper flowers as an embellishment - matching the little flower in Tilda's hair! The gold embellishments in the corner are dew drops by The Robin's Nest.

Fall Color Predictions...

The Pantone system has come out with their predictions for the hot Fall 2010 colors. Some of your may be familiar with the Pantone color system. It is widely used by the graphic art industry for consistency in colors throughout the industry. They usually do Spring and Fall color predictions. You generally will see these colors in the fashion runways and they also tend to be the popular bridal colors. This is their prediction for this fall.

Elegance with Penny Black stamps...

Those of you that have known me for some time know that I have used Penny Black stamps since about 1996. They do cute better than anyone with their hedgehogs and other critters. I have loved them for years. In addition, there are wonderful florals and interesting words that are different from the standard sayings. I have used the florals for every type of greeting card imaginable. On this card, the same flower image that is used for the main image is also stamped with white Stazon ink on a piece of vellum - creating your own background paper. To create a custom shadow stamp, I use the Ranger Cut & Dry Foam - trim it to the size I need, then ink the gray side with a light ink (the Ranger Adirondack Lights work great for this) and stamp right over the words. The ribbon here is by May Arts. The final touch is to add some Stickles to the ends of the flowers for a little pop!

Grunge Roses

This is a project I made in a Tim Holtz class a few weeks ago. This is making roses with Grunge Paper and one of the new flower dies by Tim. You can make a "paper rose" from any 6-petal flower. I am planning a class similar to this (not sure if we can get everything used here in class quantities) in June. There are several roses put into a small frame with some embellishments. The grunge paper in this case was covered with dictionary paper, then colored with some of the new Distress ink pads.

Tilda With Three Flowers

This is one of the new Magnolia images that arrived last week. I pulled out the Copics and started coloring. Because this is one of the "sitting images," I chose to have her sit on a border - this is using some of the new "Real Wood Paper" from Creative Imaginations. I punched the wood piece with one of the new EK Success border punches. There are several in this collection that add a design and leave the straight line of the cardstock. The embossing folder on the base card is by Sissix - and is one of my favorites!

Scalloped Circles to Carnations!

This flower is made by punching scallop circles on text weight paper (like copy paper), poking a hole in the center and putting a brad through the hole. Layers are then "scrunched up" to create this carnation-like flower. In this specific card, a dotted background stamp was stamped onto apricot paper with brown ink before the circles were punched out. Simple and very effective. Not something that can be mailed in a normal envelope, but great for cards you are giving personally and would make a great package decoration.
