Marcie the Mermaid...

Not sure how hot it is where you are, but it is toasty here in the Northeast - the heat is on!  There is an airshow in town this weekend and the Blue Angels have been screaming across the skies for 2 days practicing.

So, Marcie here is staying cool, being a mermaid - which is about the best option there is right now - hang out in the water!  This is another circle easel card - made with a classic scallop Spellbinders die.  These cards are no more difficult than a classic easel card, but look very impressive because they are circular.  Marcie is colored with Copics and the background layer is embossed with a Cuttlebug swirl embossing folder.  I added little "pearl" accents with a Viva Pearl Pen.

Thanks for stopping by today and stay cool!

Another Brick in the Wall...

This is a card we made in our June Technique Junkies class.  This is what I call the "Brick Wall Technique" and it is made by creating a faux brick wall.  I distressed the edges of the "bricks," which gave it a more realistic look.  This is a fun technique - not something you would want to make a lot of, but it does create a fun look.

Spellbinders Blog Frenzy Day #4

Another day, another peek into what some of the new dies are that Spellbinders will be releasing soon.  Today we have 6 more "peeks":

We start out with a more classic Spellbinders die - nested hexagons...

Then we get into another new set of dies - strips and accents for cut, fold and tuck.  For those of you who have been involved in this craft for a while, you might remember "Lace templates", that we used to import from the Netherlands.  All the cutting was done with an exacto knife and the template - lots of work and it was challenging to get a nice clean cut.  These templates do all the hard work for you!

Followed by the 2012 Heirloom Ornament nested set - I am sure that several stamp companies will be designing images to match these dies - probably JustRite and Heartfelt Creations...

And another cut, fold and tuck die set.

Followed by two shape dies - the first being a French-themed set and the second a more botanical theme...

Thanks for coming by to check things out.  Don't forget the 10% pre-order deal - you get 10% off the Stamped Designs price of any of the new Spellbinders products shown here if you place your order by July 13th.

June Calendar Cats...

The month of June features both of the girls - doing one of the things cats do best - looking at their humans - generally wanting something.  In Dora's case, it is food.  In Bucle's case, she wants a pat.  I cut both of the pictures out with a circle die, then layered to a coordinating scalloped die.  Layer that to a fun print paper and add some felt embellishments and you have a nice summery page.

Enjoy your weekend!

Spellbinders Blog Frenzy Day #3

Here we are at day #3 to get a sneak peak of some of the new Spellbinders dies, set to be debuted at the summer CHA show.  Here we go:

Starting with a new form of die that they are releasing - an expandable pattern die - you can continue to cut the pattern on larger pieces of cardstock to repeat the pattern.  This will definitely require the Grand Caliber to be able to do this, so if you already own one, you're ready to go.

Followed by a interesting tag die that cuts many different tag shapes.

Then another expandable pattern die - this one a lattice design...

And another new die format - a pop-up die.  This die type seems to cut the outer shape, then partially cuts the flowers (in this case) so they the can be popped out.  An interesting concept.

Followed by a basics shapes die set - some fun holiday shapes with a folk art style.  I know, hard to think about Christmas when it is 90+ degrees outside!

And another shape die - this one more homespun.

Remember that you can get 10% Stamped Designs price of any of the new dies and products shown during the sneak peak if you place your order by July 13th.  This will ensure that you will be one of the first to get the new dies when they start shipping from Spellbinders.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Elegant Flowers...

Penny Black Rubber Stamps has been supplying us with eye-catching and cute images for years.  They were one of my first companies when I started Stamped Designs in 1996 and they continue to be one of my favorite companies.  This card features some fun techniques.  First, the flower and butterfly image is stamped with Ranger's Aged Mahogany Distress Ink, then embossed with clear embossing powder.  You can do this, because the distress ink is designed to stay wet longer than other dye inks - which means you can emboss it!  This also traps the color under the melted powder, so you can color with water-based mediums without the lines bleeding.

Add a lot of layers and some colored bling (I colored crystals with my Copic markers!) and you have a very elegant card that can be used for many occasions.

Thanks for making us part of your day!

Next a set with postage edge finishing:

Followed by one designed for threading ribbon - an interesting twist...

And two sets that have different edges:

And a scalloped edge Labels One set...

And the first new dual embossing folder - this one folder has 2 different embossing patterns - one on each side.  This can save you storage space!

Spellbinders Blog Frenzy - Day #1

It's that time of year - time to see some of the new dies being released by Spellbinders prior to the Summer CHA show.  This year, Stamped Designs is offering a pre-order SPECIAL for everyone who pre-orders any of the new die sets.  You will get 10% off Stamped Designs regular prices for the new dies.  Our price is not shown here on the blog - we are showing the MSRP.  So, get your orders in before I leave for the show (last day to qualify for the deal is Friday July 13th).  This will ensure that you get the product as soon as it arrives and get the extra 10% off.

Today is Day #1 and Spellbinders is debuting 4 new die sets:

Starting with this very interesting Marvelous Squares set - this is very innovative and has a LOT of possibilities!  Can't wait to play with this one.

The Exquisite Circles set looks like a circle version of the square set above - again, looks like this will have LOTS of possibilities in card making and crafting.

This is the first new Grand die set shown.  If you're into photography, I can picture creating some amazing mats for pictures - either framed or in scrapbooks.  I can also think of some intriguing card ideas using the large die cuts.

Followed up by a wonderful set of delicate butterflies!  Everyone loves to add butterflies to their cards and projects.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the new dies every day during this event!  And get those orders in quick!
