By the Sea...

I've had a great time playing with some of the new seaside images from Stampendous. This is another one that I colored with watercolor pencils and a wet paint brush on watercolor paper. the background is created with a piece of blue cardstock, stamped with 2 different background stamps from Impression Obsession and 3 colors of Ranger Distress ink.

Just a fun little card - starts making me think about summer!

Gone Fishin'!

I needed to make a retirement card and I know that the guy likes to fish, so when I saw the Fishing Riley stamp on my shelf, I knew it could make the perfect card. I stamped Riley with black VersaFine ink and colored him with Staedtler watercolor pencils and a Dove Blender pen. I used a BoBunny stripe and double dot cardstock for layers and added a blue strip cut with an EK Success border punch. The words are from Impression Obsession. I added a few antique copper brads and a card is born! Relatively quick and easy. I actually made the identical card with a birthday sentiment for another person's birthday, as it is almost as quick to make 2 cards as one.

Wouldn't we all like a day at the beach...

You know, if you're in the snowy northeast, we are ready for some beach weather! Of course, it was a balmy 50 degrees this morning, so that felt pretty nice.

This stamp is a Leigh Hannon image from Impression Obsession. I just loved the fun cupcake design and the saying was perfect! Of course, WHY can't it always be a day at the beach? :) The image was stamped with black Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. Then carefully cut out. To make the background, I took 3 colors of Bazzill cardstock and cut a strip 4-3/8" wide. I made several different sizes and "puzzled" them together to get the striped background. The easiest thing to do is run about 4 strips of adhesive (I use 1/2" wide Scotch ATG tape) then start at the top and work my way down. When you get to the last strip, you cut it the width you need to keep your margins straight. The brown underneath is 4-1/2" square. After all the pieces were attached, I stamped the words with Black Versafine ink. I added a brown Bazzill button with some ivory string from May Arts tied through it.

Custom calendars...

The more uses you can come up with your stamping and scrapping supplies, the more you can justify your expense! At least that is how I look at it. My husband and I own 2 cats. Last year I started making him a calendar with the cats for their Christmas gift. It is one that stands on a little stand. Last year, I think I made the entire calendar on December 24th. This year I started it on the 19th, so I am WAY ahead of the game. I got 3 months done, so I am 1/4 of the way there! This is the January page (when I get it completed, I will show how I make the stand). I used a 6x6" piece of Bazzill cardstock, then stamped an Impression Obsession snowflake image from one of their clear sets over the cardstock with VersaMark ink. I trimmed and attached the photo and calendar piece. I make the calendars with MicroSoft Excel and a fancy font. I added a few punches snowflakes and some self-adhesive pearls from Queen and Company. Their pearls are extra nice because there is not a "strip" of adhesive that you have to cut through and then trim off any excess!

Holiday Mimi!

Wow! Where did the week go? I have seriously fallen off the blogger wagon! And I have stuff to share, just kept forgetting to sign on and post it. Maybe it is the weather here - that Nor 'easter came up the coast and dumped some serious rain and made for some pretty dreary and cold weather. No snow, but 40-degree rain is pretty miserable.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand - card making! This is a cute little card using one of the Mimi stamps from Penny Black. She is a very cute little character and this image with the polar bear is one of my favorites. It's a complex little card. I cut a circle out of the red cardstock with a Spellbinder die. The piece under it is colored with Ranger Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and also stamped with a couple snowflakes out of the same color. Mimi is stamped and colored with Copics, then carefully cut out. The waves are made with a Fiskars border punch and attached below the image, so it looks like they are on an iceberg. I stamped the small piece of green with the harlequin background image from Impression Obsession. For small pieces like this, I simply place the stamp on the table - rubber side up, ink the stamp in this case with a VersaMark pad, and then place the small piece of cardstock on the stamp and rub from behind. Then you just carefully pick it off the stamp. Layer it all up and you have a cute holiday card!

Yellow Roses...

These roses are from one of the calendar florals sets from Flourishes. Mixed with teal paper and cardstock, it makes a nice all-purpose card. The words are by Impression Obsession and the flowers are colored with Prismacolor pencils. There are 2 layers of Spellbinders dies - one in black and the other in natural white. I applied Wild Honey Distress ink by Ranger around the edge of the scalloped oval. Wild Honey is quickly becoming one of my favorite colors! The teal ribbon is a double-face satin by Midori.

Surfing Riley

Yep, we're still having a heat wave here in New Hampshire. I created this fun card with Riley the Moose on his surfboard. The card base is from The Paper Cut and is known as a "bib card." I stamped a paisley background image from Impression Obsession with Ranger Distress ink in Broken China. Riley is colored with Staedtler watercolor pencils.

A Favorite Image

We all have them - images we love and can use in many ways. Sometimes I call them "go to images" because they are the ones I pull when I need to make a card and don't have a lot of time. This Leigh Hannon dragonfly image by Impression Obsession is my newest "go to" image. I just love the design and have used it already for birthday cards, get well cards, thinking of you cards, etc. In the card shown above, I also used a leafy vine background image from Printworks and wording from Northwoods Rubber Stamps and colored the image with Copic markers. You can "bling it up" with a little glitter on the wings or use some Twinkling H20s. The possibilities are endless!
